I have always had a passion for basketball. Even after I didn't make my middle school JV basketball team, I continued to love the sport anyway. When the time came to decide what film I was going to make, Backboard was not on the radar. I was having a conversation about sports with a friend when a professor stopped and suggested I make a sports film, and I ran with it.

Backboard is a film about a former star basketball player, Drew Jones, who has decided to give up basketball for good. After meeting some guys at the park years later, he decides he might start playing again, and he'll have to break the news to his coach father, Curtis, who was disappointed in his decisions to quit in the first place.

The film is not just about basketball, but it's also about fatherhood, family, and finding enjoyment in the things we love, just because we love them.
